May is Bike Month, and Cincinnati kicked off the celebration just a couple of days early with a Poster Party and a Bike Month Kick-Off Expo. May is an ideal time to celebrate bikes as the weather warms up and the sun shines brightly on the bike trail.
The Ensemble Theatre of Cincinnati renewed a prior commitment to its Next Stage Capital Campaign recently. The theatre first announced the $6.5 million campaign in 2008, but had remained largely quiet on the matter since the initial announcement. The recommitment to the $6.5 million campaign coincided with the introduction of a new brand design and website that was created in an effort to re-establish the theatres place with Over-the-Rhine.
A Pittsburgh-based pizza chain, Foxs Pizza Den, Inc., is coming to Cincinnati. The pizza chain will open its first Cincinnati location at Bridgewater Falls, located in Fairfield County. Foxs Pizza Den recently put its name to a lease for an area in the Lifestyle Center. The chain is set to open in the 1,900 square foot location by the end of next month.
A new Urgent Care office has opened in Deerfield Township in Mason, located just 22 miles northeast of Cincinnati. Urgent Care, a fully equipped walk-in medical center, also has offices in Fairfield and Cincinnati.
The winning entries in the 15th Annual Canstruction art competition in Cincinnati were announced this week. The yearly competition is part of a national charity that helps feed the hungry in a unique and creative way by collecting canned food through the national creative competition. Nine Cincinnati businesses were challenged to build sculptures made up of only non-perishable food items and canned goods.
Greg Hardman of Cincinnati has a goal to restore Cincinnati to its rightful place in brewing history. Celebrating the citys beer brewing history, Hardman opened the Moerlein Lager House on Monday, February 27, after a gala celebration on Saturday. The idea for the facility had been brewing in Hardmans mind for over a decade. He first got the idea after a historic beer hall in Munich relocated to Kentucky. Hardmans idea for a brewing operation and facility to celebrate the areas brewing history was born out of the disappointment many locals had when the beer hall chose Kentucky over Cincinnati over a decade ago.
Freshii, an eco-friendly restaurant, opened its doors at 426 Walnut Street on the ground floor located in the U.S Bank Tower in Cincinnati on Tuesday, February 28. The restaurant serves breakfast and lunch in a casual setting. Their menu consists of a large variety of customizable soups, salads, wraps, rice bowls, yogurts and other dishes. The new diner is located in the spot that was previously occupied by Fruities. It encompasses nearly 1200 square feet of space and seats approximately 30 diners. The restaurant focuses on freshness and environmentally safe packaging.
The official poster of the Olympics of choral music for 2012 was revealed on Tuesday, February 14 at the Duke Energy Convention Center during the annual meeting of the Cincinnati USA Convention and Visitors Bureau. The poster was designed by nationally recognized illustrator, C.F. Payne, who is a Cincinnati native, and printed by RPI Graphics, a Cincinnati printing company.
Contech Construction Products Inc., a large manufacturer of prefabricated bridges, as well as numerous other products, announced Wednesday, February 8, that it has taken on a new ownership structure and a new name. The West Chester-based manufacturer, located northeast of Cincinnati, is now known as Contech Engineered Solutions, LLC. The company says that this change will take effect immediately. Ron Keating, president of the company, stated that the new name reflects the companys growth over the years. The company has expanded beyond the manufacturing of construction products to include engineering solutions and innovations. Contech believes the new name more accurately represents their business model.
Summertime fun is just around the corner as the months continue to warm up and the sun shines down upon us! Visions of waterpark slides and roller coasters dance merrily in the heads of kids and adults alike. Kings Island, located just north of Cincinnati, recently announced that it will be hiring seasonal employees for the amusement area and new waterpark. The park plans to hire approximately 4,000 new employees for the 2012 season. Those interested in applying can submit an online application at King Islands website. Positions the park will be hiring for include lifeguards, security, rides, entertainment and food services. Applicants must be at least 15 years old.
